SCREENWRITER

Jonathan is currently the Showrunner on season four of the drama series Van Helsing. In the first three seasons he worked along-side acclaimed and award winning playwright Neil LaBute, as Co-Executive Producer and then Executive Producer.

The series is currently airing on SyFy and Netflix.

Drawing inspiration from working as an actor on the legendary series The Outer Limits, Jonathan wrote his first sample script, an episode of that very show. Luckily the producers read it, bought it and then bought two more. This early and sudden success led to a number of other writing opportunities. He co-wrote the feature Greenmail as well as multiple episodes of the Comedy Network series The Unprofessionals.

Since his first script deal Jonathan's work has been produced by both Canadian and American networks. He has written in a wide variety of genres, from drama to biography to science fiction to action. His writing has also won awards. Documentary Bootcamp, a short film Jonathan wrote, acted in, and produced (in conjunction with his wife, Sheona McDonald) was celebrated at film festivals around the world and won the award for Best Comedy Short at the HotDocs festival in Toronto. Jonathan's feature script The Beholder was recently selected as a finalist for the prestigious Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship at Sundance.

In 2012, Jonathan made a decision to take a hiatus from his career as an actor and focus solely on writing and producing. The choice was quickly validated. In 2013 Jonathan co-produced and re-wrote the Sonar mini-series Delete for Brightlight Pictures. It aired on Reelz and SyFy the following year. Jonathan wrote and produced for all four seasons of the hit Showcase/SyFy series Continuum under series creator and executive producer Simon Davis Barry.

In 2018, he wrote for the series The Murders and Private Eyes for Canadian television as well as serving as Co-Executive Producer on the Netflix series Wu Assassins
